Meet your filmmaker

It started with
my own family.

Living in Sydney, with my grandparents back in Toulouse, I realised how many of their stories I only knew in pieces. So I returned home with a camera and made time to listen.

What began as a personal project became something our whole family could share. It also became the starting point for Life Portrait Films.

You work directly with me, from our first conversation through to filming and the edit.

What’s included beyond the filming days?
  • Personal preparation. Conversations about your family, tailored interview questions and a clear filming plan.
  • A relaxed filming experience. Time to listen, settle in and tell stories at a comfortable pace, with sensitivity to private or difficult topics.
  • Careful editing. Reviewing and shaping the recorded material into your agreed films. Interview films include the questions as on-screen text.
  • Your family’s input. A first draft and two rounds of revisions before final approval. We discuss how your photographs and home videos can contribute to the chosen film.
  • A keepsake to share. Digital delivery, edited portraits and a personalised USB, as listed in your package.
What if they aren’t comfortable in front of a camera?

We make time to settle in and keep filming conversational. They don’t need to perform or memorise anything, and we can pause whenever they need a break.

Do they need to prepare anything?

We’ll help you prepare. A few photographs, objects or memories can be a useful starting point; we shape the questions beforehand.

Can family members be interviewed?

Yes. Packages include different numbers of interviews, and we can discuss extra voices as part of a custom quote.

Can you include old photographs and home videos?

Yes. We’ll discuss the material you have, how it can fit the film and any permissions or conversion work needed.

Where does filming take place?

Usually at home, or somewhere meaningful and comfortable. We agree on locations and any access permissions during planning.

Can we customise a package?

Absolutely. We can discuss additional interviews, filming time, locations or different film lengths.

Do you film outside Sydney?

Yes. Tell us where you have in mind and we’ll include any travel costs in your quote.

Will we see the film before it is finished?

Yes. You receive a first draft and two rounds of revisions before final approval.
